Yes, it should be big news by now but if you didn’t know:

Microsoft Canada donated $2.3 million CDN to UW engineering.

E&CE students will now have to use C#.

Strange init? There’s a lot of problems with this, the most obvious being that the students can only use MS to do their assignments and will need Visual Studio .NET

Any how, MS tried to do that to CS as well but the smart folks there haven’t commited to anything yet: minutes to a meeting

The recent decision comes on the heels of a long string of policy changes by UW without telling the students (Co-op system, the building, cutting down trees on campus), it’s disgusting.

This effects everybody since we all have to take courses that involve computers. So everybody at UW (but especially those in math) should sign the letter mentioned above.
