China hit by Internet Blackout

Not one of the major news stories but one that's substantially important was the Internet blackout that hit most of China and HK. Read up if you're interested, no time to chat about it at this time.
AS 3?
Posted on: 2006-12-27 03:12

Wow, Actionscript 3.0 (Flex 2.0) is substantially different from Actionscript 2.0. I like AS 3 as it's more structured and ordered like the languages I usually deal with. Of course all this structure means porting over several thousand lines of old code ends up creating a delicious weekend of rewriting hundreds of lines of code in order to take advantage of new features.

Well, hopefully this project will see the light of day as it's a good one. Actually, this project is already live on one site that I work on and I'll be lending a version of this one to a friend shortly for use on his website so...production!

I do declare

World Juniors

2 - 0!!! (vs Sweden)

Full Story here but it was an excellent tense game. Carey Price (the goalie) was a solid rock in this game and quite impressive, keep an eye out for him.

I've said it before...

...and I'll say it again: "Hiring Mercenaries is always a good idea."

So Kenny finally managed to pull some strings and called in some favours but he was voted. #1 Most Fascinating TV Personality of 2006 (by Yahoo/Rogers).

Congrats Kenny and remember those of us that stuffed ballot boxen (among other things) for you.

Phew!

Another night well spent out on the town. I was driving back from KYs place at 0530 when I noticed that all the farm houses along the way had their lights on. It dawned on me that there are people who wake up day in and day out at five in the morning for every single day of the year.

It's staggering how consistent their lives must be and yet it's completely purposeful and far more well directed (and perhaps more fulfilling and productive) than mine may ever be.

That's when I remembered, I've been out all night and don't have to wake up at 5 am!

It burns when I hear you talk

Akshay pointed me to this a few days back. I started listening to it but it took me three hours to get through it due to sheer frustration. Damn you Akshay!

What does it say about the future of North America when managers can't do basic math? I can understand if you run into trouble with units when doing complex chemical calculations or even in physics but dollars to cents? Seriously. Seriously. Seriously?

That's right, take it. Take it!

Akshay moans and groans about the return of this blag. A few thoughts:

  • Blag, not blog. Randall started it, let us run with it.
  • Your story never has a happy ending. Of course if you shelled out a bit more cash I'm sure the ladies will change their mind.
  • You'll be even more displeased when I talk to you in a few days.
  • Enable trackbacks.
Rocky Balboa
Posted on: 2006-12-20 21:30

Wow, "Rocky Balboa" is an excellent movie and a must see if you watched any of the other Rocky movies. Coming at the end of the series it is an excellent way to close up a series and leave a mark (a good one at that). The music and imagery are powerful and work very well. If you get a chance, watch it soon!

There is a Santa Claus

"Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence."

Just because you don't believe in Santa Claus and because you don't see him doesn't mean he doesn't exist. Time and time again I tell people the reason they don't get presents from Santa is because they're on the naughty list. The reason Santa can deliver all the presents is because there are so few nice people that it's merely a brisk trip for him.

Media List
Posted on: 2006-12-20 02:22
So an explanation of the Media List. It's a list of media that I have and lists items possibly available for borrowing. Presently there are just over 200 items in that list however I have over 600 items that I will continue to add to the list. From time to time I will post on my blag items that I have added.
Enjoy.
Christmas under attack?
Posted on: 2006-12-20 00:37

SHUT UP! Shut up about Christmas being under attack.

You can say "Merry Christmas", nobody cares, nobody takes offense.

You know who cares? You know who takes offense? Christians. Not all of ya'll just some. The ones who are trying to panic the rest of ya'll into thinking it's under attack. It's not. You know why stores say "Happy Holidays" rather than "Merry Christmas"? It's because "Happy Holidays" is more of a marketing term than "Christmas". It's because they realized they can sell more if they extended shopping to more than just a single day.

So before you start complaining about how your religion is under attack realize that the Christians who decided to change it to "Happy Holidays" did it because of greed and not the spirit of the holidays.

Back?

Partially, at least I can post again. That's what happens when you code things from scratch (again).

New platform though, one I've been working on for a while. It is so on!

Oh, all the old posts that made the main page will be back shortly.
